Suspect Charged In 2019 Reston Fatal Shooting: Police

Fairfax County Police charged a suspect with first degree murder Wednesday in connection with a 2019 fatal shooting in Reston.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Police detectives have arrested a suspect in the 2019 death of Lorenzo Guillen Mejia, according to a police release.

Officers from the Reston District Station found Mejia's body on June 23, 2019, around 1:45 a.m., near a walking trail between Hunter Woods Plaza and Breton Court in Reston. The officers were in the area investigating the report of gunshots. An autopsy determined that Mejia had died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Following a comprehensive investigation by the Major Crimes Bureau, detectives identified a suspect on Tuesday. After conferring with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney, FCPD charged the suspect with first degree murder on Wednesday morning. The suspect, who was already being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated offense, is being held without bond.
