No Criminal Activity Suspected From Buses At Fairfax County Stops

Fairfax County Police received reports of unknown buses at children's bus stops but now believe they were there for other business.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Police now say criminal activity is not suspected in two suspicious buses at children's bus stops Thursday.

The incidents happened Thursday morning in Reston and Lorton. Police have identified the bus involved in the Reston incident and believe it was there for normal business. The bus driver in the Lorton incident was also identified. That driver was there for another pickup and not attempting to pick up schoolchildren.

Police had received the reports of suspicious buses from residents. At 7:44 a.m., police say a short white bus with a blue stripe was at a bus stop with a student on Southington Lane in Reston. A resident tried to speak with the driver, but he shut the door and drove off, according to police.

The second incident happened around 7:55 a.m. at a bus stop around Chynoweth Street and Telegraph Road in Lorton. Police say an unmarked yellow school bus with black stripes was at a stop with elementary school students, but the driver left when a resident confronted him.
