Take a Tour of the Reston Association's Brand New Lake House [VIDEO]

The building may be over budget, but the association thinks it will prove to be a good addition.

RESTON, VA — The long-awaited Lake House purchased by the Reston Association for $2.6 million is now open for business, and the association has posted a video tour of the property so you can see what it has to offer.

The Lake House, which is situated on Lake Newport, has gone way over its original budget, forcing the Reston Association's Board of Directors to carve out an extra $430,000 to cover the renovation costs. Nevertheless, the association feels that the property ultimately will be worth it as an important community gathering place.

"The Lake House is now open for programs and available for company functions, workshops and private events," Laura Kowalski, deputy director for recreation at the Reston Association, said in the video.

The facility can accommodate up to 145 people, and recently held one of its first community gatherings of about 50 people, Kowalski said.

"This affordable and ideal location, with its attractive park-like grounds, would be a lovely setting for a small- to mid-sized wedding, celebration, corporate function, retreats, workshops, conferences or private function," she added.

The building will feature two large rooms: a lakeside room with access to a deck overlooking the lake, and a second room that can accommodate up to 100 people, featuring views of the lake and a fireplace.

Rates start at $100, and the building is available year-round.
