Taste Of Reston Not Returning In 2021 But It Will Be Reimagined
Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce is planning to replace the annual, multi-day festival focusing on food with smaller, single-day events.
RESTON, VA — The Taste of Reston, the annual, multi-day summer event highlighting local restaurants and small businesses, had to be canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, which has hosted the event since 1991, recently announced that Taste of Reston would not be returning to Reston Town Center this summer either.
Instead, organizers are reimagining the event as the "Taste of Reston Series." They're planning single-day, reduced capacity, food-centric events that will happen throughout the Reston community rather than just at Reston Town Center. Plans are still in the works and more details will be provided at a later date.
“The Taste of Reston’s rich legacy of community engagement and support of our hospitality industry is incomparable," Chamber CEO Charles Kapur said, in a release. “We are so proud of the amazing events we’ve produced, our 30-year partnership with the Reston Town Center, and the generous contributions of all our wonderful volunteers and sponsors. At the same time, we recognize the unprecedented challenges our local businesses and our event patrons have faced for over a year. Our local restaurants are focused on operating fully staffed and at full capacity. Meanwhile, the residents of our community are making individual decisions on the types of public gatherings they wish to participate in. The Chamber, carefully considering feedback from our directors, our event stakeholders, and community leaders, feel this is the time to reimagine how we produce future Taste of Reston events.”
