Uber Driver Escapes Robbery at Gunpoint in Reston

Driver managed to flee from suspects during midnight incident Wednesday.

Uber drivers beware: Fairfax County Police said Friday that a Uber driver was nearly robbed at gunpoint this week in Reston.

The attempted robbery took place in the 11800 block of Sunrise Valley Drive, Wednesday at 12:18 a.m., according to police.

The driver was contacted via the UBER application and picked up two men in the Reston area, FCPD said. One suspect donned a ski mask, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the driver. The victim drove into a parking lot exiting the vehicle and fleeing from the suspects, according to police.

The suspects then exited the vehicle and fled on foot, police noted. There were no injuries. The suspects were described as black, 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and between 140 and 170 pounds.
