Update: Couple Reimbursed for Faulty $5,000 Tip at Reston Restaurant
More than four months after a clerical error turned a $1.50 tip into a four-figure loss, the couple has finally recovered its money.

A couple of weeks ago, Reston Patch published an article about a Reston couple whose $1.50 tip on a $26 meal at Reston’s Lifetime Fitness Cafe accidentally turned into a $5,000 tip.
The couple struggled for months with the restaurant and their credit card company to get that money back, but instead accumulated interest and wounded their credit score.
That’s when they called on local ABC affiliate WJLA to bring light to the case, and this week WJLA reported the couple has finally recovered its $5,000, more than four months after the mishap.
