VA Governor Sings Praises of Reston Company

Gov. Terry McAuliffe highlighted Thompson Hospitality Group for his "Virginia Business Spotlight."

RESTON, VA — Thompson Hospitality Services has certainly made a name for itself in Reston as one of the foremost food service companies in the region, and now Virginia's governor has taken notice.

In his "Virginia Business Spotlight" video posted to Twitter, Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) highlighted Thompson Hospitality Group, which is located at 1741 Business Center Drive in Reston.

He called Thompson Hospitality a "great Virginia company," and noted that the company's founder, Warren Thompson, had grown the enterprise into one that employed more than 4,000 associates with in excess of $600 million in revenues.

"It is the largest minority facilities management, food management company in the United States of America," McAuliffe said. "Congratulations to Thompson Hospitality Group, a great Virginia company."

The origins of the company can be traced back to 1992, when founder Warren Thompson bought 31 Bob's Big Boy restaurants, and then converted them into Shoney's restaurants and other restaurant concepts. In 1997 he created Thompson Hospitality Services and entered a partnership with Compass Group, the largest food service company in the world.

"What we do every day is in service of our many clients, customers, and communities across the country," the company says on its website. "We look at every person and project as the most important one of the day. And we are always adding services, products, and systems that make your life easier."
