Man Wanted In Reston Shooting, Abduction Dead From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
A Richmond man who was wanted for abducting and assaulting victims in Henrico County and Reston died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

RESTON, VA — Dana Paul Roman, who was wanted for assaulting and abducting two victims from Henrico County and Reston, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Richmond, according to Henrico County Police.
Fairfax County Police responded around 1:58 a.m. on Sunday for the report of a shooting at a home in the 12000 block of Thunder Chase Drive in Reston. Officers found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the home. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A second victim was located a short distance away, according to police. That victim, who had a stab wound to the arm and trauma to the face, was transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that Roman, a 45-year-old man from Richmond, had assaulted and abducted the second victim in Henrico County and had driven to Fairfax County. Arriving at the Thunder Chase Drive address in Reston, Roman shot the first victim multiple times and then fled the area on foot, according to police.
Despite an extensive search with the help of K9 officers, FCPD's helicopter and Virginia State Police, police were not able to locate Roman.

Detectives obtained six felony warrants against Roman for abduction by force, carjacking, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding, and assault, according to police.
Investigators learned that Roman had carjacked and abducted a victim in Reston, whom he forced to drive him to Henrico County. Once there, Roman was pursued by police in the City of Richmond, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The third victim was unharmed, according to Henrico County Police.
Following a preliminary investigation, investigators say that the assault and shooting were not random acts of violence and the people involved were known to each other.
