Why are you seeking elective office?
To provide Hunter Mill residents the best possible representation on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
The single most pressing issue facing the Hunter Mill District is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Managing growth. Development must be well planned, in manageable amounts, in the right places, protect our green/open spaces, provide affordable housing, and benefit the community overall.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have proven experience in the job and am the nominee of the Democratic Party.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
Fully funding FCPS, improved pedestrian/bike safety, banning guns in county buildings/parks, better mass transit, improved first response systems especially to address mental health crises, and more affordable housing.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Voted to fully fund FCPS in every budget, championed improved pedestrian/bike safety designs and funding, banned guns in county buildings/parks (and now being sued by the NRA), got the Silver Line fully open, added initial set of mental health crisis responders to our emergency response system, and added or preserved nearly 1,000 affordable homes in Hunter Mill. And oversaw the cleanup and other updates to the Reston Comprehensive Plan.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Never put anything in writing you don’t want to read in the Reston Patch (this is an updated version of some old advice)
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I appreciate the opportunity to serve, and I hope Hunter Mill voters will give me the opportunity to continue serving.
