Want to Grill Out in Reston on Labor Day 2016? Here's Where to Go

It may be your last opportunity to grill out with family and friends this summer.

RESTON, VA — It's Labor Day, and if you're like most people, it's impossible to resist the itch to get out and grill one last time. But where should you go to get the most out of the unofficial end of summer? There's a few fantastic options available on short notice in Reston with their own standalone grills available for use by the public.

Before you go, make sure you check the websites of each park and read up on the rules. Also, some parks require reservations for grills.

Lord Fairfax Park, 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive -- This park has plenty of picnic areas open to the public, which you can reserve for a fee. In addition, this park also has the Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole, and access to boating, fishing and camping. There's also softball fields, soccer fields and playgrounds.

Stratton Woods, 2431 Fox Mill Road -- Stratton Woods definitely doesn't have the size of Lord Fairfax Park, but perhaps it will also be a lot less crowded on Labor Day. Only one grill is available at the Stratton Woods Picnic Area, so you may need to get there early. In addition, the park also has numerous sports facilities, including tennis courts, a soccer field and a volleyball court.

Stuart Road Park, 12001 Lake Newport Road -- This location also offers only one grill, but the availability schedule shows that it's not reserved on Sept. 5 as of Sunday afternoon, and you can reserve it online. The park offers access to a tennis and basketball court as well as a playground and a nature trail.
