Armed Golf Cart Robbery At Reston Golf Course Leads To Weapon, Narcotics Charges

Three teens were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a golf cart Wednesday night at Hidden Creek Country Club In Reston.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested a man and two teens on Wednesday night on weapons and narcotics charges in connection with an armed robbery involving a golf cart at a Reston golf course.

Officers responded around 6:451 p.m. for the report of someone brandishing a weapon at Hidden Creek County Club located at 1711 Clubhouse Road, according to police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that an argument ensued when a golf course employee approached a group of teens who he suspected had stolen golf carts in the past. During the argument, on of the teens showed a handgun. No injuries were reported, according to police. Although police searched the area with the assistance of Fairfax 1, FCPD's helicopter, they failed to locate any of the suspects.

Around 8:06 p.m. that same evening, police returned to the golf course for the report of a robbery, in which a group of teens stole and crashed a golf cart. They then stole another golf cart at gunpoint from a group of golfers and drove off. Another search involving Fairfax 1 failed to locate any of the suspects. Police reported that no one was injured.

Investigators were able to identify 18-year-old Deon Luangraj of Lynchburg as one of the suspects in the case. They charged him with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

Detectives also arrested a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old in connection with the incident. They charged the 16-year-old with possession with intent to distribute schedule I/II narcotics, and possession of a Firearm while in possession of certain substances. Police cited the 14-year-old for robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and underage possession of a firearm.

While investigating this incident, police recovered four firearms and suspected narcotics.
