Friday, Jan. 2: Come to the Cabaret

Cabaret Series – Welcome to the Speakeasy: Come for a raucous ramble through the Jazz Age as talented performers tackle the tunes inspired by the gin-joint atmosphere. Take one part Broadway, add a dash of hot jazz, shake well and you’ve got the perfect musical martini, served up by a sizzling cast of singers. Featuring both classic and contemporary songs that echo the spirit of the speakeasy from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the W3 Theatre, Workhouse Arts Center. $30/person; $24/senior, military or student with ID. Snake and Turtle Feeding: Enjoy a brief presentation and demonstration by animal caretaker staff. Learn to identify the county’s only venomous snake, the northern copperhead, and what makes a reptile different from an amphibian. At least one snake, two turtles and a toad will be fed. Art Show Reception: Come to the horticulture center and Historic House and see the work of artists of the Vienna Arts Society from 1 to 3 p.m. at Green Spring Gardens.
