What's Open, Closed For Presidents Day 2022 In Reston
The Monday holiday will result in closures and schedule changes around Reston. Plus, check out local George Washington birthday events.
RESTON, VA — Many workers and students will get a long weekend for Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 21.
George Washington's birthday is Feb. 22, but the federally-observed Presidents Day/George Washington Day falls on the third Monday in February. If you're looking for something to do on the holiday, check out the George Washington Birthday Celebration festivities in the City of Alexandria. The George Washington Birthday Parade is planned Feb. 21 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Old Town Alexandria. In addition, George Washington's Mount Vernon is offering free admission by reservation on Feb. 21 and 22 and other special events.
Government offices, schools and other services will be closed on Feb. 21, while other services like transit may have schedule changes. Below are the openings and closings to know in Reston.

Reston Association: RA offices, including the Central Services Facility and Nature House, will bless closed on Monday, Feb. 21.
Fairfax County government offices: Closed on Monday, Feb. 21

Fairfax County Public Schools: Feb. 21 is a student holiday.
Courts: The Fairfax County General District Court, Circuit Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed on Feb. 21.
Community centers: Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services facilities will be closed Feb. 19 to 21. Fastran will not operate on Feb. 19.
Reston Community Center Hunters Woods will be open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Mondayd, but RCC Lake Anne will be closed
Fairfax Connector: On Feb. 21, Fairfax Connector will run holiday weekday service. For more information, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector.
Libraries: Library locations are now closed on Sundays and Mondays through April 1. See hours for other days at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library/branches.
Metro: Metrorail and Metrobus typically run on a Saturday schedule on Presidents Day. Metrorail service is adjusted due to the 7000-series railcar investigation.
Park authority: Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Site are closed Feb. 21. Nature centers at E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond and Huntley Meadows are open 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Frying Pan Farm Park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the visitor center hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and indoor arena from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Green Spring Gardens Horticultural Center is open noon to 4:30 p.m. and the Historic House is closed.
Post offices: Closed on Feb. 21
Recreation centers: Open regular hours on Feb. 21
Trash and recycling: There is no schedule change for county collection customers on Feb. 21. Private collection customers should check schedules with their hauler.
Trash and recycling centers: The I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) are open regular hours on Feb. 21.
Virginia DMV: All DMV customer service centers will be closed Feb. 21.
Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not operate on Presidents Day.
