WMATA Announces Service Status Advisory for Silver Line This Weekend

Trains will operate every 20 minutes through the weekend, and the line will only be open between Reston and East Falls Church on Sat./Sun.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has announced a service status advisory affecting the Silver Line this weekend, Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28.

Trains on the Silver Line will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend, and on Saturday and Sunday trains will only operate between the Wiehle-Reston East and East Falls Church stations.

Passengers traveling to or from stations located East of the East Falls Church station are advised to use the Orange Line from East Falls Church to complete their trips. The WMATA said it has scheduled trains so that wait time for transferring passengers at East Falls Church will be “about five minutes or less.”

The WMATA also noted passengers traveling from new Silver Line stations to Arlington or Washington, D.C., should complete their trip via a transfer at East Falls Church. Likewise, passengers traveling from Arlington or Washington, D.C., to new Silver Line stations should board the Orange Line heading toward Vienna, then transfer at East Falls Church.

The track closures are due to repair work scheduled for parts of the Silver Line. The closures will take effect at 10 p.m. Friday evening.
