Tuesday: Wolf Trap Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods Season Kicks Off
First up: The Pop Ups, two-time Grammy nominees, performing Tuesday, June 23.

Over the river and through the woods to a Wolf Trap show we go! Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts kicks off its Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods 2015 Season on Tuesday, June 23 with two-time Grammy nominees The Pop Ups. The Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods season runs until August 8, and features 32 performances that aim to entertain and educate young minds by engaging them in diverse performing arts experiences. As part of Wolf Trap’s commitment to arts and arts education, Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods has been a place that inspires creativity and fosters a love of the arts each summer since 1971. Families enjoy diverse acts ranging from puppetry, storytelling, dance, theater, and music.
Opening week features two performances by The Pop Ups (June 23 and 24), the National Symphony Orchestra with its NSO Teddy Bear Concerts: Violins, and Trombones, and Bears, Oh My! (June 25), and a double dose of one of the country’s top Kindie bands, Recess Monkey (June 26 and 27).

Twelve artists make their Wolf Trap debuts during the 2015 Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods season, including: award winning Washington, D.C.-area band, the grandsons, Jr. (July 1 and 2); the teenage rock ’n’ roll trio that brings you custom metal sounds with a positive message, Unlocking The Truth (July 9); Latin Grammy nominee, Mister G (July 15 and 16); D.C.’s premier African dance company, KanKouran West African Dance Company (August 4); and musical group Mil’s Trills, (August 6 and 7) as featured on First Lady Michelle Obama’s Partnership for a Healthy America and Hip Hop Public Health’s children’s album.
Returning acts this year include the award-winning theatre troupe Hudson Vagabond Puppets (July 17 and 18); the talented young dance ensemble of Natyabhoomi School of Indian Dance (July 30); and “the crowned prince of contemporary kids’ music” (People), Grammy winner Dan Zanes (August 8).

Nestled in Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods welcomes guests Tuesday through Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m., June 23 through August 8. Tickets are $8 or $10, and children under two enter free of charge. Tickets may be purchased online at WolfTrap.org/woods, by phone at 877.WOLFTRAP, in-person at the Filene Center Box Office, or at the kiosk located in the meadow prior to entering the theatre, 1551 Trap Road, Vienna, VA.
