The YMCA Fairfax County Reston will hold its community grand re-opening Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to all.
The community celebration includes an open house and activities for kids and adults of all ages. Tours, demonstrations, activities, giveaways, new member special offer, and refreshments are scheduled.
“The grand re-opening is an opportunity for local residents to see how they can benefit from Y programs and activities,” says Liz Nason, associate executive director of the Y in Reston. “Our Y has a great impact on the community. It’s the place for kids, teens, adults of all ages, and families to be healthy, active and connect with others."

Located at 12196 Sunset Hills Road in Reston, the Y nurtures young people, improves health, and fosters social interaction. "Many people do not know our Y is open to and serves all. One out of every four families needs financial assistance to be part of impactful Y programs. This financial support comes from the Y's Caring for Community annual campaign, ensuring no one is turned away from our doors. The Caring for Community campaign helps to make our community a better place for all."

Recent building investments include an expanded wellness area with new cardio equipment, new locker rooms, new group cycling studio, new community and multipurpose rooms, and a redesigned lobby. In addition, there is an expanded space for Child Watch, which provides two hours per day of on-site care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years while parents are at the Y.
"At the Y, we believe that positive, lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors," Nason said. "The Y is built on the foundations of developing character and values, finding a sense of belonging, reaching your full potential, and knowing that we are stronger when we are inclusive and our doors are open to all."
Every day, the Y involves members, volunteers, participants, partners, and neighbors to make sure everyone – regardless of age, income, ability, or background – has the opportunity to learn, grow and connect.
