Police ID man killed in block party shooting in Richmond neighborhood (wtvr.com) — Richmond police have identified the man killed after a weekend block party shooting in the Fairfield Court neighborhood and are still piecing together what happened. Officers found 23-year-old Andrew Jones with life-threatening injuries on 23rd Street; he later died at the hospital, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
3. Richmond releases third draft of zoning code overhaul (nbc12.com) — Richmond officials have released what could be the final draft of the long-running "Code Refresh" zoning overhaul, reshaping how and where homes can be built across the city. The new proposal scales back earlier density plans, adds green space and tree canopy rules, and now heads to City Council, where residents can still review details and share feedback online.
4. Former Richmond breast surgeon fined in Alabama for prescribing controlled substances without certificate (wtvr.com) — A former Richmond breast surgeon who surrendered her Virginia license is now facing a fine in Alabama for prescribing controlled substances without the required state certificate, while still licensed there. She remains the subject of numerous malpractice lawsuits filed in Richmond, with former patients alleging unqualified breast reconstruction procedures and long-lasting physical and emotional harm.
5. Colombian community in Virginia sends aid after deadly earthquake (nbc12.com) — Colombian residents from Richmond and nearby Hopewell are rallying to send urgently needed supplies back home after a deadly earthquake devastated parts of Colombia. Local business Rio Suarez Foods and other partners quickly filled about 100 cases with essentials, which are now being shipped from Hopewell to Miami and on to hard‑hit communities abroad.
