Tazewell Police and the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office responded, and the former employee now faces a robbery charge tied directly to this local restaurant incident.
• Transformative wireless project delivers cell coverage along 20-mile stretch of Hwy. 460 (virginiamountaineer.com) — New cell towers along U.S. 460 in Buchanan and Tazewell counties are finally closing the dangerous "dead zone" between Richlands and Grundy, improving safety and everyday connectivity for local drivers. The $4.4 million project also boosts access for Bluestone Technology Park and other Tazewell-area economic development, with all six new towers expected online by mid-October.
• State to increase funding caps for work on bridges and retaining walls under proposed changes to flood relief program (cardinalnews.org) — State officials are proposing higher funding caps for repairing access bridges and retaining walls in Southwest Virginia, changes that Tazewell County Del. Will Morefield says will speed help to long-waiting flood victims. With most of the $50 million fund still undistributed, these updates could open the door for more Tazewell-area homeowners to finally tackle costly infrastructure repairs.
