VIENNA, VA – A 31-year-old man from Vienna was arrested for calling police and hanging up more than a dozen times after he had been identified as part of a reported road rage incident, Vienna police say.
According to the Vienna Police Department, officers responded to a reported road rage incident on the 600 block of Frederick Street SW at 12:20 a.m. on July 20. The caller had been driving around a single block multiple times, waiting for another driver who had been following them to leave the area. The caller wasn't comfortable going home and reached out to police.
Officers were given a description of the vehicle and located it on Tapawingo Road SW, police say, and both parties left the area without further incident.
A few hours later, the subject of the first complaint began calling police dispatchers, Vienna police say. His first call was to request information about the previous road rage incident, but he proceeded to call dispatchers back another 16 times, sitting silently on the line until dispatchers hung up. Officers say the caller was warned that he could be arrested if he continued the harassing phone calls, but they did not stop, police say.
The caller was arrested for harassing phone calls to emergency service personnel and was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
