Upcoming FFX NAACP Summit Plans For Dialogue Leading To Policy Roadmap To Advance Equity

The Fairfax County NAACP is hosting a Black Agenda Summit this weekend to put together an actionable plan to advance equity in the region.

VIENNA, VA – The Fairfax County NAACP, Voices of Black Fairfax and the First Baptist Church of Vienna will gather residents, policymakers, business leaders and activists on Saturday to discuss systemic racial disparities and how to develop solutions for Black communities, the Fairfax County NAACP announced in a release.

The Black Agenda Summit, set for Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Vienna, will examine issues including economic equity, education, health care access, housing and wealth building, criminal justice reform and civic engagement. Organizers hope to use the day to identify priorities and strategies with measurable outcomes to advance equity in the region.

Niki Zimmerman, president of the Fairfax County NAACP, called the summit "a launchpad for sustained action," in a release. The event is scheduled to start with a morning discussion and question-and-answer session, followed by themed breakout workshops and concluding with the presentation of a policy roadmap outlining specific legislative and community-driven priorities for the coming year, organizers say.

The summit will be held on Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Vienna at 450 Orchard St. NW. Anyone wanting to attend must pre-register here.
