'Fun, exciting, well-paying': SU launches air traffic control certificate (nvdaily.com) — Shenandoah University in Winchester is launching a two‑year air traffic control certificate that can lead directly to FAA jobs, often with six‑figure salaries. The program builds on aviation pathways at Winchester Public Schools, Frederick County schools, Laurel Ridge Community College, and Winchester Regional Airport, creating a local "cradle to career" pipeline in a fast‑growing industry.
   

2. Blue Ridge Care receives grant to expand grief support for students (insidenova.com) — Students and families in Winchester will soon see expanded grief support at school thanks to a New York Life Foundation grant awarded to Blue Ridge Care. The funding will grow the Adventures Through Grief program for grades 6–12, train facilitators, and create new student groups. Any Winchester resident can access these services as part of the nonprofit's regional network.
   

3. Downtown Winchester church to rise again in Frederick County (nvdaily.com) — First United Methodist Church, long rooted in downtown Winchester, is preparing to build a new home on Apple Pie Ridge Road in Frederick County after years of worshipping in temporary spaces. The former Braddock Street building now houses loft apartments and a performance space, while the congregation plans a $3.5 million facility expected to open by Easter 2028.
   

4. Dan Hoffman Out as Herndon Town Manager After Under a Year (thewinchestergazette.com) — Winchester readers may recognize former city manager Dan Hoffman, who has been abruptly terminated as Herndon's town manager less than a year into the job. Herndon officials are keeping reasons confidential, while residents debate the lack of transparency and some recall Hoffman's tenure in Winchester. An interim manager is in place as Herndon plans its next steps.
