• VCEDA approves $5.26 million for economic development projects in three counties (thelebanonnews.com) — Wise residents should know that VCEDA has approved a $250,000 loan so the Wise County IDA can buy the former J.J. Kelly school site in Wise for future development. Alongside larger loans in Scott and Russell counties, the board also extended support for projects in St. Paul, Clintwood, and Red Onion, signaling more long-term investment and potential job growth across the coalfield region.
• Health Wagon receives grant for emergency medical training equipment (mountain-topmedia.com) — Health Wagon staff in Wise are getting new emergency training equipment thanks to a $5,200 Appalachian Power Foundation grant, with CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed courses already underway. For Wise residents, that means local providers will be better prepared for emergencies and able to keep lifesaving certifications current without leaving the community.
