$10M In COVID Relief Grants Available For Non-Profits In Prince William County

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Non-profit and faith-based organizations in Prince William County can receive up to $300,000 in COVID-19 relief grants. The grants are being distributed through a partnership between the Prince William County government and the Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William.

In total, the government plans to distribute $10,000,000 in grants using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. Grant applications will be accepted from Friday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, March 13.

Grants of up to $300,000 are available for 501(c)(3) faith-based and nonprofit organizations that help people recover from the COVID-19 pandemic in Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. The grants are intended for underserved communities, the county said in a news release.

Organizations can qualify for the grant if they provide rent and mortgage assistance; utility assistance; access to mental and behavioral health assistance to include preventative medicine; employment support; childcare costs; emergency shelter; and hunger relief; or other critical unmet human needs.

"We know that this pandemic has impacted our community in many ways, especially those who are most vulnerable," Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors Ann Wheeler said in a news release. "We are very grateful to partner with The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William to provide funding to those organizations who can help support our residents during this time of need."

The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William plans to host three information sessions about the grant application process in the coming weeks. All of the information sessions will be held live via Zoom.

The information sessions are being held on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Videos of the sessions will be available on the alliance's website.

"Since the pandemic started, nonprofits and faith-based organizations have done a tremendous job serving our area’s most vulnerable residents with basic needs assistance and various forms of relief," Conaway said. "We are honored to help these groups access funds that will allow them to further aid in the recovery of those who have been most impacted by COVID-19."
