The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia grows philanthropy to help meet the most critical needs of the region. As a grantmaker, the Community Foundation awarded more than $3.7 million in grants to nonprofits, schools and interfaith groups; $225,000 in scholarships; and reported $35 million in managed assets in the 2013-2014 season. www.cfnova.org

Why:

The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s annual Sweet Home Virginia Gala raises critical funds to support its work in the region. Approximately 600 business leaders, philanthropists, and community organizers participate in the gala. A pillar of this event is the presentation of the Community Foundation’s Community Leadership Award for outstanding service and commitment to Northern Virginia, presented to Richard Duvall and Holland & Knight this year.

Cost:

Sponsorships are available from $1,800 to $15,000 and include visibility throughout the year and at the Gala, and tickets to the event. Individual tickets are $300.

Dress is Black Tie Attire.
