2nd Suspect Who Sprayed Chemical Into BJ’s Wholesale Club Arrested: Police

The 2nd of two shoplifting suspects believed to have sprayed a chemical at BJ's Wholesale Club in Woodbridge as they fled is in custody.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — The second of two accused shoplifters who sprayed a chemical into a store as they fled was arrested Friday, Prince William County Police said on Tuesday.

Officers were called to BJ’s Wholesale Club, 14123 Noblewood Plaza in Woodbridge of Feb. 2o for a report of a shoplifter. A report by the Prince William County Police Department said as two men — Rodney Johnson, 49, of Arlington and Jhonathan Moises Ugalde Ramos, 27, of Alexandria — left the store with unpaid merchandise, one of the men sprayed an eye irritant into the store before the pair drove away.

Ugalde Ramos was arrested a month ago, while Johnson was arrested last week by Fairfax County Police with help from Virginia State Police. Johnson is charged with robbery, grand larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny with intent to sell.

Multiple people inside the store were treated at the scene by medical personnel and one person was treated at an area hospital for a reaction to the spray.

On Feb. 23, Ugalde Ramos was arrested and charged with grand larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny with intent to sell.
