4 More Arrested In Shooting Death Of Triangle Teen In Woodbridge: Police

Police say the fatal shooting of a teenager from Triangle in July was a robbery gone wrong.

WOODBRIDGE, VA – Four more arrests have been made in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old Triangle boy in Woodbridge in July, Prince William County police say.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, the death of the teen on July 5 on the 16700 block of Blackjack Oak Lane was the result of a robbery gone wrong. They say the teen and two acquaintances, one a minor, had arranged to confront and rob another man, Damon or Damion Jamon Atwater. During the encounter, someone fired, killing the 16-year-old victim.

Police say a fourth person who had accompanied the teen victim on the robbery, Darrian King Rutherford, left the scene in a vehicle, which was pursued by police. They say Rutherford eventually stopped the car and ran from police. Police also say an additional man, Keshaun Maurice Hodge-Richards, tampered with evidence at the scene before police arrived.

Atwater was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on July 30.

On August 6, police arrested one of the two women they say took part in the planned robbery with the 16-year-old victim: Janaiya Lolita Talley, 18, of Arlington, who is charged with felony murder and attempted robbery. On August 11, police arrested the second person they say took part in the planned robbery: a 17-year-old girl from Woodbridge, who is also charged with felony murder and attempted robbery.

On August 6, police arrested the man they say fled the scene in a car: Darrian King Rutherford, 18, of Woodbridge. He is charged with felony eluding.

On August 10, police arrested the man they say tampered with evidence at the scene: Keshaun Maurice Hodge-Richards, 21, of Woodbridge. He is charged with concealing or compounding offenses.

All but Rutherford are being held without bond. Rutherford was released on his own recognizance.

Prince William County Police, Arlington County Police and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrests.
