WOODBRIDGE, VA — Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot has grown to $500 million due to a climb in lottery ticket sales in advance of the large drawing.

The jackpot had been previously estimated at $450 million.
The winning ticket will be the largest since a $564.1 million jackpot was won last February.

The cash option payout for Wednesday’s drawing is estimated at $306 million.
There are 45 lotteries nationwide that participate in the Powerball drawing.
The Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Check for results at valottery.com.
Powerball tickets can be purchased at any lottery vendor, including 7-Eleven, Giant, Safeway, Wawa, and Wegmans stores in Virginia.
