4th Of July 2024: What's Open, Closed Around Woodbridge, PWC
Most government offices will be closed, and some services will operate differently on Thursday for the Independence Day holiday.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — As many families head to vacation destinations, host barbecues and watch fireworks on Fourth of July, many government offices and services will be closed or altered.
Fourth of July falls on Thursday, July 4 this year. Here are the openings and closings to know around Woodbridge and the rest of Prince William County.

Prince William County government: Closed on July 4.
Prince William County Public Schools: Schools and offices are closed on July 4, and July 5 is a holiday for summer school students.

Prince William County courts: Circuit Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court are closed on July 4 and 5.
Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed on July 4.
Libraries: Prince William County Libraries are closed on July 4.
Metrorail: Metrorail will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight. Regular weekday fares will be in effect until 5 p.m. All trips after 5 p.m. will be fare-free, and parking will be free all day at Metro-owned garages and lots. More weekend Metrorail information is available here.
OmniRide: There will be no OmniRide bus service on July 4. Regular bus service is planned on July 3 and 5.
Parks and recreation: Prince William County parks and trails, Lake Ridge Park Marina, and Office of Historic Preservation are open. Locust Shade Park Marina is open with the driving range closing at 7 p.m. and last sales at 6 p.m. Facilities closed on July 4 are the Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center, Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center, Veterans Memorial Community Center, Pat White Center at Ben Lomond, and the administration office at George Hellwig Memorial Park. Personal fireworks are not permitted at Prince William County parks.
Pools and splash pads: SplashDown Waterpark is open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Waterworks Waterpark is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Veterans Memorial Park pool & waterslide, Hammill Mill, Birchdale and Graham Park Community Pools are open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Post offices: Closed on July 4.
Trash and recycling center: The Prince William County Landfill and Compost Facility will be closed on July 4.
Virginia Railway Express: VRE will not operate on July 4 and will run on an S schedule on July 5.
