85-Year-Old Man Dies 3 Weeks After Woodbridge Crash: Police
Authorities said an 85-year-old man from Woodbridge died on Thursday from injuries he suffered in a crash on Telegraph Road on July 15.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — An 85-year-old man from Woodbridge died on Thursday, three weeks after a serious crash at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Caton Hill Road in Woodbridge, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Police identified the man as Herbert James Hawkins.
Two men in a van also suffered injuries in the crash, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on July 15. Police said Hawkins was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche and was trying to turn left onto Caton Hill Road from northbound Telegraph Road. When he entered the intersection, his truck collided with a 2018 Ford E-350 van, according to the police report.
Authorities said the van had a green light, while Hawkins was at a flashing yellow light, indicating that he should yield to oncoming traffic. Police said the crash spun Hawkins's truck around before it stopped in the intersection.

The police department said that Hawkins was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, and first responders had to pull him from the truck. A helicopter flew him to the hospital, where he died of his injuries on Thursday.
Police said an ambulance took two men in the van to the hospital as well. Their injuries were not life-threatening, according to the police report.
