WOODBRIDGE, VA – Prince William County officials snapped to attention when the storied region was name dropped by none other than King Charles in his state dinner speech on April 28.
At the White House, entertaining the white-tied banquet guests, the U.K. monarch described a literal trip down memory lane, listing American sites that carry the names of his family. In addition to referencing the state of Virginia, one of its royal counties got a mention: rich, historic and richly historic Prince William.
Sour grapes emerged in the comments section, of course, as social media users pointed out that Alexandria and King George County had gotten short shrift. But only one Virginia county bears the name of the king's firstborn.
Better luck next time!
