Woodbridge Teen Arrested, Accused Of Brandishing Weapon At Other Teens, Firing Recklessly

A Woodbridge 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with brandishing and reckless handling of a firearm.

WOODBRIDGE, VA – A 16-year-old boy accused of brandishing a weapon and firing into the air during a confrontation with a group of teens has been arrested, Prince William County police say.

Officers arrested the teen on Thursday in connection with a July 22 incident, the Prince William Police Department reports.

Police say on the evening of July 22, the accused teen walked toward two other boys, ages 15 and 12, who were playing basketball on the 14300 block of North Park Court in Woodbridge. According to police, the accused asked about the whereabouts of another 16-year-old. When the accused saw the 16-year-old in the area, he brandished the weapon at him and fired two shots in the air, police say.

The three teen boys were able to leave the area, and no injuries were reported.

The 16-year-old accused is charged with brandishing and reckless handling of a firearm. He is being held at a juvenile detention center with his next court date pending.
