PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – A 24-year-old man drowned in a Prince William County lake on Tuesday, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Police say they responded to Lake Montclair at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a possible drowning. They say two men were paddling on the lake in a canoe when their canoe capsized. One of the men did not resurface, they say.
An Underwater Search and Recovery Team searched the lake and eventually found the man. Police say preliminarily they see no signs of foul play in the incident.
The Prince William Times reports that the man who died was from Montclair and the person paddling with him was a 23-year-old man from Woodbridge.
Lake Montclair is used for boating and fishing, with swimming also allowed in designated areas.
