PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – Prince William County high schools will now offer boys' volleyball at the varsity level.
As of this school year, boys' volleyball will be offered at all 13 high schools in the county's school district. According to a report in Inside Nova, the school division will cover the initial start-up costs for school teams because the sport was added after the budget process had started.
Next year, schools will have to start funding their own teams, including coaching stipends, uniforms and equipment. Also added in the budgeting process were funds for girls' flag football and girls' wrestling.
The outlet notes that Fairfax County and the City of Alexandria were the first public high schools in the region to offer boys' volleyball, starting in 2024. Loudoun County has also added the sport this year.
