24-Year-Old Woman Loses Unborn Child After Woodbridge Hit And Run: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA – A woman lost her unborn child after being struck by a hit and run driver earlier in September, Prince William County police say.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were walking through a parking lot on the 14500 block of Richmond Highway shortly before 9:42 p.m. on Sept. 3 when they were both struck by a dark-colored pickup truck. The truck left the scene, and both people were taken to a hospital with injuries from the crash.

Police say the woman, who was in her third trimester of pregnancy, underwent an emergency procedure to deliver her child, but the infant died several hours later from injuries suspected to have been sustained in the crash.

Both adults are expected to recover.
