LORTON, VA – Ninety-three people are being laid off this fall from the Lorton location of United Air Temp, Air Conditioning and Heating LLC, according to a Virginia Workforce Development notice.
According to the notice provided to the Virginia Department of Workforce Development and Advancement, there will be a mass layoff at the United Air Temp, Air Conditioning and Heating location at 6900 Hill Park Dr. The expected separation date for staff is Nov. 10.
The Washington Business Journal reports that the nearly century-old HVAC and plumbing contractor was acquired by Connecticut private equity firm Littlejohn & Co. two-and-a-half years ago.
The Virginia Department of Workforce Development and Advancement is reporting the layoffs as a closure; however, the Washington Business Journal reports that the layoff will affect about one-third of the location's workforce. United Air Temp has not yet responded to a request for comment.
