Animal Cruelty? Dead Pit Bulls Found In Dumfries ICYMI

Two dead pit bulls were found Sunday along a path near Cherry Hill Road in Dumfries, and Prince William County Police suspect cruelty.

DUMFRIES, VA — Authorities are investigating potential cruelty to animals charges after two American pit bull terriers were found dead Sunday afternoon in the area of Cherry Hill Road near the railroad tracks, according to Prince William County Police. The dead dogs were taken to a state laboratory where a necropsy indicated both dogs were around 3.

Shortly before 4 p.m., animal control officers responded to the scene after a report from a caller who'd been walking along the path and found a dead male pit bull inside a duffel bag, which he had unzipped. After animal control arrived, they found another pit bull, this one a female, a short distance away in a plastic storage container.
