PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Prince William County, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Prince William County schools.

The first day of school for most students in the area is Monday, Aug. 21.

Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

  • Monday, Aug. 21: First day of school
  • Friday, Sept. 1 through Monday, Sept. 4: Labor Day weekend, no school for students or staff.
  • Friday, Sept. 15: Rosh Hashanah holiday, no school for students or staff.
  • Monday, Sept. 25: Yom Kippur holiday, no school for students or staff.
  • Monday, Oct. 9: Professional learning day, no school for students.
  • Monday, Nov. 6: Teacher workday, no school for students.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 7: Teacher workday, no school for students.
  • Friday, Nov. 10: Veterans Day holiday, no school for students or staff.
  • Wednesday Nov. 22 through Friday, Nov. 24: Thanksgiving break, no school for students or staff.
  • Thursday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Jan. 1, 2024: Winter break, no school for students and teachers.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 2: Schools reopen.
  • Monday, Jan. 15: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, no school for students or staff.
  • Friday, Jan. 26: Parent-conferences, half day for elementary school students.
  • Monday, Jan. 29: Teacher workday, no school for students.
  • Monday, Feb. 19: Presidents Day, no school for students or staff.
  • Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29: Spring break for students and teachers.
  • Tuesday, April 9: Teacher workday, no school for students.
  • Wednesday, April 10: Eid al-Fitr, no school for students or staff.
  • Monday, May 27: Memorial Day, no school for students or staff.
  • Friday, June 7: Last day of school, half day for students.
