2nd Annual I-Walk for ACTS Draws Hundreds for Homelessness Awareness
Hundreds joined together to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in Prince William County at the 2nd Annual I-Walk for ACTS hosted by Image Church and ACTS of Prince William County.
On Saturday, October 13, hundreds gathered for the 2nd Annual I-Walk for ACTS, hosted by Image Church and ACTS of Prince William County. The event, featuring a 2.25 mile walk through downtown Dumfries followed by a free family festival at Merchant Park, raised funds and awareness for ACTS. The event was part of the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Mini-Walk program, which draws attention to the issue of homelessness around the country. The community is invited to support this effort by making a donation online at www.iwalkforacts.com.
250 walkers and volunteers participated in this year’s I-Walk which raised nearly $10,000 to support homeless families struggling to make ends meet. Following the walk, over 500 people were on site at the peak enjoying free food and drink, music, and kids activities including moon bounces, games, face painting, and building projects.
This event was made possible with the generous support of the following sponsors: 3-R Contracting, LLC, Todos Supermarket, Core Chiropractic, Kwikpoint, Lowe’s, Zoës Kitchen, Move 4 Free Realty, Little Caesars, Cropper’s Towing, Shirt Art, Inc., Utz, Panera Bread, Amerigroup and ImtheDj.net.
This mission of ACTS of Prince William County is to provide relief, foster hope and promote self-sufficiency for its Prince William area neighbors in crisis due to hunger, homelessness and personal violence. For more information about ACTS, visit www.actspwc.org.
