How to lose weight and enjoy picnics, pool parties and BBQ's!

Simple tips for eating healthy and summer events!

Summer is all about having fun; pool parties, picnics and BBQ's!  Even though most of these events center around large portions of yummy food you can still reach your fitness and nutrition goals.  Here are 3 simple rulesto help you have the most fun this summer at a picnic and maintain your physique.

1 - At any event that involves food make sure you have eaten before coming.  Example: if you are goingto a picnic for lunch, make sure you eat breakfast before attending the festivities.  This will keep you from over eating.  And if it is a dinner activity, eat regularly throughout the day - breakfast, snacks and lunch.


2 - Fill your plate up with protein and veggies first, then add one or two of your favorite treats - be it sweets or salty treats.  It isn't about avoiding these, it's
about enjoying them in moderation!

3 - Stay active.  The warm weather means you can do your exercise outside of the gym AND it doesn't have to be all running and weight lifting.  An hour of yardwork burns about 200 calories.  Just remember when exercising outdoors to
bring your sunscreen and water!

4 - Stay away from the food table.  Don 't hang out around the food table; when
we do this we continually pick and consume many more calories than we intend.
