Chief Property Code Inspector, Tracy O’Connor joined the Neighborhood Leaders Group in April to present information regarding illegal roadside signs. Often seen plastered on poles, posts, fences, walls, buildings and trees, as well as stuck in medians, lawns, and roadsides, many of the signs we see in the county are illegal.
An ongoing effort between Neighborhood Services, Property Code Enforcement, zoning officials, residents and citizen groups begins with education to identify and eliminate illegal signage. As part of that education, Chief Property Code Inspectors, Tracey O’Connor and Stan Pawlowski presented a program on troublesome signs in PWC at the Annual Neighborhood Conference in February 2013.
In April, the updated presentation to the Neighborhood Leaders Group was followed by an announcement of a new, volunteer driven effort to mitigate the effects of illegal signs in PWC. Click here for more information or call Neighborhood Specialist, Thea Rome 703-792-8051 to become a volunteer.
On Wednesday, May 1, there’s another public information meeting geared toward education of small business owners. This meeting, like the NLG meeting is free to the public, but registration is requested by calling the Neighborhood Coordinator: 703-792-7018. You can find more information here.
The Prince William County Neighborhood Leaders Group (NLG) strives to educate and inform residents regarding topics that affect their communities. These topics, often centering around property values and quality of life issues are driven by peer to peer interaction to spur results, identify trends and assist both HOA and non-HOA neighborhoods in community building.
