PWLL Breast Cancer Awareness Day Saturday

Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the Prince William Lassie League

All of us have either been directly or know someone impacted by a loved one passing away or recovering from breast cancer. Please take the opportunity to support a great girls softball league this Saturday and at the same time, back a worthy cause, that is, unless you're actually AT the Avon's Walk for Breast Cancer being held in Washington, D.C. of course.

The Prince William Lassie League has decided to host two events during the 2012 season to raise awareness and money for two extremely worthwhile causes. The first event, Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the Lassie League, is being held this Saturday, May 5.

The League has chosen this day because it coincides with Avon's Walk for Breast Cancer being held in Washington, D.C. this weekend. The players are encouraged to wear something pink (socks, shoe laces, shorts, etc.) to their game on Saturday to show support for this cause. The League will also be collecting donations at the concession stand. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be donated to Avon's Walk for Breast Cancer. The funds raised are used to support research to find a cure or prevent breast cancer, as well as programs that enable all patients to access quality care. Support for the medically underserved is a key priority — including low-income, elderly and minority individuals, and those who are under-insured.
