CFH Announces 5k for Affordable Housing

CFH to Host 5K Run/Walk for Affordable Housing at Bull Run Park June 16

Northern Virginia, March 22 – Catholics for Housing (CFH), a Northern Virginia nonprofit, has announced its first ever 5K for Affordable Housing, to take place Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 9 am at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville. The run/walk fundraiser will help CFH continue providing sustainable affordable housing and critical life skills training to help set individuals and families on a path of self-sufficiency. This year’s race honors the memory of CFH founder Fr. Gerard Creedon, who devoted his life to improving opportunities for those less fortunate, on the 50th anniversary of his June 16, 1968, ordination.

“We’re very excited about the opportunities this event brings us – not only to raise funds for our critical work, but also to foster additional relationships within the community,” said CFH Executive Director Karen DeVito. The 3.1-mile course will wind through the beautiful scenery at historic Bull Run Regional Park, and the winners will be announced in a brief ceremony following the event.

Anyone interested in participating or sponsoring the event should visit CFHVA.org/5Kforaffordablehousing. The CFH mission addresses the continuum of housing-related needs, providing direct service programs to limited income households as well as workforce rental and homeownership opportunities. CFH also implements Choices, its comprehensive life skills program designed to help people identify and reach their goals, at a variety of locations that include a regional jail, homeless shelters, transitional programs and other venues. The Board of Directors of CFH represents a diverse group of individuals who provide expertise in business, development, architecture, financial services and the real estate industry.
