Cop Assaulted In Triangle: Police

A man was pepper-sprayed and arrested Sunday afternoon after assaulting a cop in Triangle, according to Prince William County Police.

TRIANGLE, VA—A man was pepper-sprayed and arrested Sunday afternoon after assaulting a cop in the 4700 block of Locust Shade Drive, according to Prince William County Police. Brian George Sayrs, Jr., of the 5000 block of Windsor Drive in Fredericksburg, was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice and domestic assault and battery from an unrelated incident.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., police on routine but patrol at the aforementioned location when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. After pulling it over and approaching the vehicle, they smelled marijuana and attempted to detain one of the passengers.

But the passenger resisted and then assaulted the officer, prompting him to be pepper-sprayed. He finally was arrested without further incident. Police then found he was wanted for a domestic assault and battery charge from Friday.
