'Corvette And Cash': Dumfries Woman Wins Both In Virginia Lottery Game

A Dumfries woman won the "Corvette and Cash" top prize in the Va. Lottery scratch-off game. She bought the winning ticket at a Shoppers.

DUMFRIES, VA — You probably have seen the Virginia Lottery television commercial featuring the "Not Yet Corvette Club," in which a handful of wanna-be Corvette owners gather to express their longing for what they don't have. If it were a real club, Sylvia Mobley of Dumfries might well have been one of the attendees. And if it were a real club, Mobley would now have to relinquish her membership.

That's because it was announced this week that Mobley won the top prize in Virginia Lottery's Corvette and Cash scratch-off game. Not only did she win a new Corvette Stingray, she also pocketed $100,000 in cash. (For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts. "I see a Corvette drive by, and I wave," Mobley said upon accepting her prizes, adding that she always thinks to herself, "I wish that was mine."

Mobley, a Washington Redskins fan, said she would pick burgundy as the color of her new ride, one she should receive in several weeks. She bought the winning ticket at Shoppers, 4174 Fortuna Center Plaza. Her chances of winning were 1 in 387,200. She's the second person to claim one of three top prizes.
