Dale City Lions Community Service 9.21.2013

Dale City Lions have been part of the community for a very long time. They serve in many capacities, most of them health-related.

As the years pass all service organizations move forward to remain relevant in their work. You can see this modern trend in our high tech tools like Pediavision when we screen very young children for vision problems while we visiting day care centers, health fairs and schools.

Another new addition to the Dale City Lions is the VDOT program: Adopt a Highway. Lions serve by cleaning a two mile stretch of road four times a year and sign a pledge to continue to do so for three years.

On our most recent cleanup, we had a total of 25 volunteers! We’d like to specifically thank the Dale City/Gar-Field Leo Club who support us in this effort. Today’s volunteers included: Donnell Taylor. Evelyn Mejia, Tian Low, Arvin Shao, Andrea Ramirez, and Dagoberto Taboia and our favorite mom, Annie Chun!

Additional volunteers came from St. Francis of Assisi in Triangle. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Mancini, who arranged to work with us and provided transportation for Matthew Noble, Anthony Mancini, Kris Diaz and Andrew Diaz. Thanks also to Miss Daizjah Draper, a youth volunteer from Dale City Church of Christ.

Big thanks to all the Dale City Lions who came out to work today: Beverly and Charles Carroll, Alvin Frogg, Clarence Hall, Willie Barr, John McGill, Bill Moser, Lou Soscia, Darrell Sample, Bill Galloway, President Joe Brown and our fearless team leader, Leonard Reynolds.

In a little under three hours, we met, signed in, had doughnuts, picked up 20 bags of trash, made some new friends and did something good for our community!

If you’d like to learn more about Dale City Lions, friend us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. We invite you to join us on the first and third Tuesdays of the month when we meet at 7:00 PM at the Prince William Ice Center, 5180 Dale Blvd  Woodbridge, VA 22193

We’d be glad to see you at our next AAH cleanup on October 12, too!
