Body Found Along Potomac River is First Homicide of 2017 in Prince William County

The death is deemed suspicious, according to Prince William County Police, and the ID of the body is pending per notification of kin.

DUMFRIES, VA — A body found along the Potomac River in Dumfries on Thursday is now considered as Prince William County's first homicide of 2017.

Found in the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Road along the river, the body had appeared to have suffered trauma, according to Prince William County Police. Further examination of the body by the Medical Examiner's Office and further investigation led police to classify the death as a homicide.

Few details were released in the case. The victim has been identified as an adult male, but a name will not be released until next of kin are notified.
