Dumfries Homicide Suspect Arrested On Tuesday: Police
A Fredericksburg man who was wanted in connection with a fatal Dumfries shooting was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in, police said.

DUMFRIES, VA — Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with Friday's fatal shooting in Dumfries.
The police department reported that the suspect, Daniel Christopher Shannon of Fredericksburg, turned himself in on Tuesday.
On Monday, the police department identified the victim who died in the shooting as 21-year-old Jeremiah Quentin Deck. Another victim, a 23-year-old man, is still hospitalized. He is expected to survive, police said.

Shannon is charged with one count of murder, one count of aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of discharging a firearm within a dwelling.
If convicted of all charges, Shannon could spend the rest of his life in prison.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Friday at a home in the 1900 block of Fort Monroe Court in Dumfries. When police officers arrived, they found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to the police report. The shooter had already left the area.
Investigators believe Shannon was at the house when an argument broke out between several men. The men briefly separated before Shannon went upstairs and shot both victims, the police department said in a report.
