Those interested in being a lifeguard are invited to to take an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course. This course teaches the fundamental skills required to become a lifeguard. Students who successfully compete this course will receive certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/PR, AED, and First Aid.
Students must be 15 years old by the last day of class in order to take this course. In order to complete this course, students must be able to pass a skills test consisting of swimming 300 yards continuously, a surface dive into deep water to retrieve a 10-pound brick, and swimming 20 years holding the brick with both hands.
There is a $200 fee for this course. This fee includes the cost of books.
