DUMFRIES, VA — Authorities charged a Stafford man with reckless driving for his role in a fatal crash in Dumfries on July 21, the Prince William County Police Department said.

Marvin Hubert Floom, a 76-year-old man from Dumfries, died of injuries he suffered in the crash. A 73-year-old woman in Floom's car suffered life-threatening injuries.

After an investigation, officials charged Jesse Rean Bacha with one count of reckless driving. He was released on a court summons and his court date is pending, the police department said.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on July 21 at the intersection of Dumfries Road and Country Club Drive. Police said the driver of a Ford F-150, who they later identified as Bacha, was travelling northbound on Dumfries Road when he ignored a red light at Country Club Drive.

In the intersection, the truck hit Floom's Lexus E300H, which was turning left from Dumfries Road onto Country Club Drive. The collision pushed the Lexus into the southbound lanes, the police department said.

Floom died at the hospital of injuries he suffered in the crash. The front seat passenger in his car was flown to a hospital for treatment. Bacha was not injured in the crash, according to the police report
