Firearm Confiscated At Hampton Middle School: Police
Authorities confiscated an unloaded firearm and a BB gun from students at Hampton Middle School in Dale City on Tuesday morning.

DALE CITY, VA โ A school resource officer found an unloaded firearm and a BB gun in lockers at Hampton Middle School on Tuesday morning, the Prince William County Police Department said. One student, a 12-year-old boy, was charged with possessing a firearm on school property.
Just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, school security at Hampton Middle School told the school resource officer that a student was in possession of a gun on school property.
"School security notified the SRO that upon receiving the information, an unloaded firearm was located in the locker of a student, a 12-year-old boy," the police department said in their report. "While investigating, a BB gun was located in the locker of another student, an 11-year-old boy."

Authorities said that the boys did not display the weapons at any point, and there was no active threat.
The school resource officer took possession of the firearms, and the two boys were released to family members. On Wednesday, the school resource officer obtained petitions for the 12-year-old who possessed the real firearm.

The boy, who has not been publicly identified because he is a juvenile, is charged with one count of possessing a firearm on school property. The case will be handled by juvenile court services, the police department said.
